…on Tuesday, but I’m here.
The month of September is interesting for NYC schools in that there are only 11 instructional days. School starts the Wednesday after Labor Day and camps are typically closed the entire week before. Then we have Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur (the Jewish holidays), and Eid (a Muslim holiday) for which schools close. It makes for taking a lot of time off to keep the kids alive right at the start of the school year and thus playing a lot of catch up on work. This was coupled with my ill timed vacation, as I planned it for the week before my classes start (which is usually the same week the kids are out) but since Labor Day was late this year I actually had 2 weeks of classes before the kids…
But I’ve put my head down and made some significant progress on my dissertation. And my email inbox is *this* close to 0. I have all the pictures from summer to share, but I’m finding a funny thing about unplugging. It’s easier than I thought it would be to stay that way. Plus, I finally got my Dad to join Instagram.
Catching up is hard, but I’m almost there.
